All rooms in the main hotel building are beautifully decorated and furnished in keeping with the period in which they were built; 1870-80's, 1898, and 1913.
Lace curtains and selected antique furnishings are featured throughout the building, though each room is different. Modern comforts have not been sacrificed. All rooms have private baths, Cable TV, high-speed broadband wireless Internet, touch-tone phones, clock radios, and of course air conditioning and hot water heat. |

For guests in the main hotel building, our "Public Bath" (a name retained from days preceding private baths in each room) has a whirlpool tub big enough for two, and a steam sauna. Despite its name, it is completely private, and one room (2 people) at a time may use it by requesting the key at the front desk. |
"Breakfast
Room"

Guests will find ice, pop, coffee, tea and cider available in the "Snack Room" behind the lobby desk. Each morning a Continental Breakfast is set up for guests staying in the main hotel building. This is a "serve yourself" breakfast of muffins, breakfast bars, biscotti, juice, fruit, yogurt, and cereal. On occasion, home baked bread is added. Guests are welcome to take breakfast to their room or eat at the dining table in the North lobby.
You are welcome to browse Aunt Jo's Gift Parlor featuring a large selection of Kansas postcards, T-shirts, souvenirs, gifts, and the ever popular Sheila's Collectibles. The gazebo style porches are popular day and night with our guests. There is something relaxing about a "front porch" that everyone seems to enjoy. |
From Aunt Minnie's Room
to the Anniversary Suite with sitting room with a bay window and
whirlpool in the bath, every room in the main Hotel has a personality all
its own. Special accents in each room might range from stained glass windows
to a claw foot bathtub. The Bridal Chamber is an exceptionally beautiful
turret room with a stained glass window over a queen size brass and iron
bed. All rooms at The Cottage House Hotel offer a unique combination of
period furnishings and modern comforts to make your stay truly memorable. |

"Honeymoon
Cottage"
|
For newlyweds or anniversary couples, take a journey into the past and enjoy our wonderful Honeymoon Cottage. Two suites offer a sitting room, bedroom, mini-kitchen stocked with snacks & goodies, and a bathroom with an INCREDIBLE whirlpool (seeing is believing) tub, shower, and bidet. These rooms are non smoking and because they are so special and unique, we do not allow pets, children, or rollaways in these units. We promise that an overnight stay in our Honeymoon Cottage will become a happy memory to last a lifetime. |
A stay at The Cottage House
Hotel is enhanced by the opportunity to dine just around the corner at
the Hays House. Marvelous "made from scratch" food is served in
an atmosphere of the Old West on the Santa Fe Trail. Surely Josephine Mead,
the hotel founder in 1898, would consider the Hays House a worthy successor
to her dining room. |
